  • Australian Cervical Cancer Foundation

Preston is very proud to support the Australian Cervical Cancer Foundation.

Why is it then that over 280,000 women still die every year from cervical cancer? Every 2 minutes, somewhere in the world, a family is grieving the loss of its wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt or friend from this serious yet highly preventable disease.

Since 2007, ACCF has been dedicated to creating awareness of cervical cancer and its prevention in Australia. This is done through Community Awareness Programs and school programs – the Cervical Cancer Awareness Program for Schools. ACCF also works to support women and their families in Australia who are affected by cervical cancer.

Cervical cancer is the leading cancer killer of women in developing countries. ACCF is also committed to freely providing the cervical cancer vaccine and treatment to girls and women in developing countries who would not otherwise receive it. We work in countries such as Nepal, Bhutan, Kiribati, The Solomon Islands and Vietnam to vaccinate girls against HPV (the virus that causes cervical cancer) and to screen and treat women for cervical cancer. By vaccinating a girl in a developing country, her risk of dying from cervical cancer is reduced by up to 80%. By screening a woman in a developing country for cervical cancer even just once, her risk of dying from cervical cancer is reduced by up to 40%.

  • Maharaja Tandoori Cuisine

Maharaja is a proud sponsor of the Preston Cricket Club.

Most Indian cuisine is related by the similar usage of spices and the use of a greater variety of vegetables than many other cuisines. Religious and caste restrictions, weather, geography and the impact of foreigners have affected the eating habits of Indians.

Indian food is a mosaic evolved from many influences and cultures – Turkish, Persian, Afghan cuisines blending with the local and regional specialties. From this rich heritage Maharaja brings a selection of dishes that are particularly well suited to the Melbournian palate.

Maharaja Tandoori Cuisine’s spices and herbs have been stone ground in the traditional manner and our specialties cooked according to the ancient principles of the princely houses. Our Indian breads are cooked in the unique Tandoori style, using a clay oven.
